Back Home from Paris

Well, back from Paris and sitting here typing surrounded by a whiteout type of winter snowstorm.  The wind is blowing all the snow around and we have a wind chill so what better place to be than home with a warm cup of coffee and looking at pictures of my recent trip.  I spent some time uploading some of them to Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/swirlgirl2008/ and updating things.

As we left Toronto, we had snow but I certainly didn't expect snow when I landed in Paris, but they had had a snow fall so it was very pretty.  Thankfully, I had boots with me as they are not as equipped to deal with the snow.  They don't shovel the sidewalks so the snow just melts on its own.  I saw one poor lady taking the snow off her car with a cardboard box.  By mid week it had melted but i managed to take a few pictures.

Everyone at the Tuileries on Sunday for a walk in the snow

As usual I took along a few, well 5, Mini Lalaloopsies with me.  I ended up with 5 in similar colours, all in pinks, reds and whites.  They had quite a time...

When the Saturday rolled around I was still at work when the Webinar started with some of the FR unveiling.  I managed to get on and was listening to the designers and Carol but I was sucking up the last of my data plan and I had missed the beginning although for me I came just in time for the Funny Face line.  I didn't even know what I had missed.  When my data ran out I had to disconnect and as soon as I got to my hotel room, I got on the wifi and saw what I had missed.  The emails started soon after and I was over the moon over the gift sets from Funny Face.  Others have posted much better reviews but I was very happy with the offerings.  I was even tempted by the Tullabelle dolls.  I just don't want to get into the 16in girls if I can help it.  I do have 4 AGs from earlier but that's enough.
I hope that everyone was able to find everything they wanted with somewhat minimal stress.

Dolls that look like Audrey

Well, I am off today to Paris, for work, and as nice as that sounds, it's definitely work and it's cold in Paris, but still it's Paris, so I shouldn't complain too much.  My only problem is that the FR Webinar will be on Saturday and I will be there instead of here and working.  Also, I can now sympathize  with our European Doll collectors who have to make allowances for weird time zones when they plan things.  To be quite honest the middle of the afternoon is not bad it translates into 6pm start in Paris but I will still be working so I feel for myself.

As a result i will do my best to find Wifi and get on the webinar but in the meantime, I thought that I would post a few pictures of the dolls that have already come out.  I actually loved both the Holly dolls and the Poppy dolls that represented Breakfast at Tiffany's and Sabrina, but Funny Face is one of my all time fave Fred and Audrey movies so I am super- excited for this launch, if indeed that is what they launch.

So I posed a few of my faves from both groupings quickly before I go.

Here are The Five and Ten, Mrs. Fairchild and Crazy about Tiffany's.....

I think that both collections brought something to the table.  There is certainly a certain sad look to the Holly dolls, but now look how good they turned out in the new friend of Poppy - Loni and Poppy always look good.  But I am just as pumped for the Vero face sculpt that will be coming in the Funny Face collection.  As well, the outfits are amazing and have great detail and I am expect nothing less in this unveiling.

I was tempted for 2 seconds to bring Mrs. Fairchild along for the ride and try to pose her like in the movie, but I think that I will just imagine her there so I don't mess up her hair in my luggage.

Hopefully "see" many of you next Saturday, hopefully.

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas...

Finally we are here on the Twelfth Day or Epiphany or The Three Kings...

I thought that for today I would post my most favourite Mini Lalaloopsys at the moment.  So I had to choose 12 of them and this is not so easy when they are all extremely cute but here they are:
In the back row:
Scarlet Riding Hood, Pepper, Snowy Fairest, Dyna Might, Mango Tiki Wiki
In the middle row:
Tuffet Miss Muffet, Ivory Ice Crystals, Holly Sleighbells, Toasty Sweet Fluff, Charlotte Charades
and finally at the bottom, Ember Flicker Flame and Sprouts Sunshine
(who makes these names up)

It reminds me of our old school pictures.  Anyway, this has been fun posting every day lately and I certainly know that I will continue to post away with big and small dolls in the coming weeks.  I have made one of my New Year's Resolutions to play and photograph my dolls that I have now instead of always running after the next big thing and not enjoying the ones already here.

Once again, I wish everyone the very best for 2013 and my all your doll dreams come true!

On the Tenth and Eleventh Day....

Yesterday flew by before I realized that I hadn't posted a Tenth day of Christmas picture so here we will have two, one for yesterday and one for today.  I just came back from a quick shopping trip for Christmas organizers but as you all know, there is no such thing as a quick trip without peaking into the doll sections of TRU and Winners and certainly Walmart to see what's new.  And actually there were a few new things at Tru such as the Mini Lalaloopsy Little Sisters, Sew Snowy Globes and the Princess LalaOopsies.  They also finally received the I love Fashion sets with Frankie and Abbey.  I spotted these sets originally in New York in July and we have just received them here in Toronto.  They had the Dance Class Monster Highs as well and so did Walmart but the shelves were pretty bare so far.  I'm sure that new merchandise will come in soon.  I was very good and did not buy anything except the Christmas organizer that I went to get in the first place.

For the Tenth day I will post one more of my CAM ghouls while I wait for the new ones to appear up here - Blob and Ice girl and Mummy and Gorgon.  There are 10 ghouls in the picture at least.

On the Eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me....My first delivery of the new year.  I bought these last year and thought they would make it in time for Christmas but now they make it in time for Epiphany and  Los Reyes Magos.   Scaris ghouls - Clawdeen and Frankie.  I am really liking this Frankie.

Lovely girl but the hair is a hot mess.  Hopefully some hair ghoul in Scaris can fix it for her.

Till tomorrow....

On the Ninth Day of Christmas...

On the ninth day i am running out of ideas so I have decided to post my first deboxing of the year 2013.  I collect mostly Fashion Royalty and some Barbies but I do have a small collection of Pullips which I love.  I seem to have a affinity for big heads, hence those mini Lalas, My scenes, when they were popular, even the Monster highs seem to have big heads.  So the Pullips fit right in.  I like Blythe but I have never owned any currently.

So I have been rearranging the basement as I fix the doll shelves and I saw her downstairs and decided that she must be free.  I also like coloured hair on dolls, such as pink, blue, yellow etc.  She is Pullip My Melody and comes with a large red hood with ears and a pet mouse and red lace up shoes and masses of pink curls.

Till tomorrow..

On the Eighth Day of Christmas...

On the Eighth day of Christmas, I thought I would post some Monster High CAM that I finished in the summer after buying the torsos on Mattel.com.  I know these are playline but I think that they would be more fun even for kids if they came with torsos already.  Anyway, as soon as I got my two packs, I made all of the missing torso dolls and posed them on my deck.  Not great pictures but I certainly had fun with them.  The neighbours were looking over a few times wondering what I was doing.

Of course, now I need more shoes for these girls.

Till tomorrow.

On the Seventh Day of Christmas...

After a lovely New Year's Eve I am searching around the house trying to figure out what to photograph for the Seventh day.  I have a hard time photographing too many dolls in one setting so I was looking for small items and remembered my small Re-ment collection.  Of course, that meant that I had to go find the different sets that I have.  I don't have any one full collection but pieces of different collections that I get as I see them because they are hard to find here.  So here are seven groupings of Re-ment items.

These were three sets from the Fairy Tale grouping, one of my favourites, and one that I am still trying to find some of the other sets.

This one is from the Princess Teatime sets.  Now if only i had some Princesses that could partake of teatime.

Cooking with Grandma sets, including a Paella from Spain, Lemon juice from Sicily and Pizza from Italy.  I have a few more in this set but couldn't find them which is why one of my NYE resolutions is to organize my dolls and accessories better so that I can find things when I'm looking for them.  Which of course means cleaning up everything and getting rid of some things.

Happy New Year to all!!
